htmlText_ED5FF04F_E380_6C93_41E2_C00232A108E0.html = Our wide variety of on-site sports facilities includes a modern sports hall, a fitness suite which comprises a 16 point cv area, resistance machines, a dedicated free weights area, boxing bag and a core workout area. We have also recently completed a new outdoor sports village, which hosts our state of the art all weather football pitch, basketball court, table tennis area and outdoor gym.
This is our History class. History develops understanding of other values and cultures, which is important in an increasingly globalized and multi-cultural world.
History students at St Charles said about the course: “History really prepared me well for University, especially the essay skills I learned” and “The teachers were always available to give help and advice.”
The department of ICT comprises of two fully IT equipped rooms and offers an enhanced learning curriculum experience. There is a plethora of software available; Multimedia, Programming, Data Modelling, Website creation, Movie creation, Image Editing software.
The department makes a holistic use of Virtual Learning Environments and cloud technologies such as Teams, OneDrive and Moodle, as well as high quality of resources and workshops, allowing the students to benefit from their own digital space, e-learning and cater for individual learning styles.
Join us in the Careers Library where students have the opportunity to discuss in private their own career plans with the Careers Adviser and Work Experience Adviser. The Careers Library is well stocked with the latest up to date books on many different careers, such as “Occupations”, “Careers2020”, “Heap2020” as well as 2021 University Prospectuses, and Apprenticeship Information.
Students can also use one of the eight computers to complete their UCAS, compile their CV and any job and apprenticeship application forms – supported by the Careers Adviser.
This is one of our Arts classes. Our students love to be creative and experiment with their designs and ideas.
Apart from the classes that students use as a base to work during their study periods, we also feature a ‘Dark Room’ on the ground floor.
Our students say "My experience of studying in the Art department has been very positive and also enjoyable. I was really impressed with the guidance and support the teachers offer the students in order to achieve high grades. The support was also available after school. I would recommend the Art Department, as the teachers have a lot of experience and will guide students on the right path to get the best possible grade."
The theatre is fully equipped with a wide range of lighting and has a professional sound desk. Lighting and sound are located in the gantry area above the stage and seating.
We have two portable dance barres used for our dance classes, which were kindly donated by a past student. There are a wide variety of black boxes which can be used for staging and there is a useful gauze curtain to separate the space and for creating silhouette lighting effects against. We have a selection of radio mics and a wide range of costumes and props stored in our gantry area and these can be hired by students for performances and filming.
The LRC provides study spaces, PCs and iMacs. You can find an IT Room, main study area, Gallery with individual study booths & a group study room for students who want to work together. New to the LRC is our free stationary service, a Wellbeing Zone if you want to take some timeout, and individual student inductions on research skills and how to use the LRC effectively.
The Chaplaincy at St Charles is here to serve the whole community, both staff and students, regardless of an individual’s beliefs. It is also a living sign and reminder of our foundation as a Catholic college, where Christ’s teachings are at the centre of college life.
We are fortunate to have a beautiful Chaplaincy space for our students, as well as a Chapel, in which the Blessed Sacrament is reserved. Each space provides a quiet solace for our students, where they can take time to be still during a busy day.
The Chaplaincy and Chapel are run by our full-time Chaplain.
This is our Politics class.
Politics is the study of power, who has it and how they use it. In A Level Politics we study the key political institutions, and how effective they are at holding those in power to account.
